The construction activities of the new surgical complex at the Kegalle Teaching Hospital are nearing completion, paving the way for more patients to be accommodated in the hospital. Under the Rs 400 million project, the new complex will include 10 operating theatres, a Blood Bank an Orthopaedic Unit and an Intensive Care Unit. At present the hospital has 746 beds and on any given day there are over 550 to 650 in-house patients receiving treatment.Over 3,000 patients receive treatment at the clinics that are open everyday as out-patients.
