Dialysis unit - Padaviya

Base Hospital Padaviya, is full of highly dedicated staff but has limited facilities.The 'Sarvodaya' constructed a Mini-surgical Theater and Emergency Traetment Unit to the hosppital, with the funding assistance made by the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (AJJDC), on the request of Ministry of Health which costed approximately 3.2 million rupees. The facility was handed over to the Padaviya District Hospital on 25th May, 2009. A new building with an outdoor patients unit, wards complex, administrative office was launched in 2011 with the financial assistance of 40 million Rupees from the European Union and the German 

Red Cross. Padaviya Base Hospital, has to provide kidney dialysis to a very large catchment area. Last year the UK charity Medical Aid to Sri Lanka became aware of this kidney dialysis need of the Padaviya Hospital.The new kidney Haemodialysis machine costing £11,000 was delivered to Padaviya Hospital in January 2013.
